2021 DeQuincy, LA Hurricanes Laura & Delta
Our Calvary Relief Disaster Response Ministry team spent the week of January 10th through 16th, 2021 in DeQuincy, Louisiana helping those devastated by Hurricanes Laura & Delta. As part of Samaritan’s Purse (SP) & the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (RRT) we were there not only to help them clean up the mess, but also to let them know that God loves them & to share the hope of Jesus. It was a great week! Thanking God we could be there to be used by Him.

Hurricane Laura made landfall Aug. 27th with heavy rains and destructive winds. Hurricane Laura was one of the fastest and strongest intensifications in Gulf history—with speeds up to 150 mph! On October 9th, Hurricane Delta once again crashed ashore in southwestern Louisiana as a Category 2 storm with sustained winds close to 100 mph, causing more damage to already devastated areas
There is still so much devastation and many hurting people! While there, our CCOB Calvary Relief team worked tirelessly with SP doing mostly tree work, cutting up big trees that had fallen all around houses and clearing debris.
Homeowners were amazed and brought to tears when they walked outside and saw their yards cleared.
As we presented the Bible to this elderly man that lived all by himself, he shared, through tears, his life story and how much he loved us and appreciated us being there - it meant the world to him.
As the SP teams cleared the yards, the RRT chaplains visited with the homeowners sharing the gospel and praying with them. Two of he homeowners accepted the Lord and one person rededicated her life to the Lord. (Praise God!) One of the biggest highlights was how God impacted each person on our Calvary Relief team, how they grew spiritually, how even when tired and frustrated, they encouraged one another and ministered to one another. Each one expressed how much God had shown them and how much they appreciated each other.
