Breathitt County (Jackson), KY
Aug. 14th - 20th &

Sept. 21st - Oct. 1st, 2022

Our Calvary Relief team of 6 served in Breathitt County, KY (we stayed in Jackson) where devastating flood waters demolished many homes and resulted in the loss of many lives. Amongst the casualties were 4 little children, ages 2-8, who were pulled from their parents' arms by the rushing waters.  A friend of one of our teammates, who was living in Hazard, KY, was also one whose house was totally destroyed.  Many of the houses that remained along the river banks were filled with mud and water to the ceiling.  Our Calvary Relief team had our work cut out for us as we served with Samaritan's Purse (SP) and the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (RRT) in serving/ministering to the people there.

As SP teams worked on shoveling out mud, tearing out floors and walls, the RRT chaplains spoke to the homeowners, prayed with them and shared the gospel.  15 people accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior this week - Praise God!!!

We saw God working in so many ways that none of us wanted to come home at the end of the week - one of our team members actually stayed there to continue serving this week.  Here are a few pictures to give you an idea of how bad it was there.

Because of all the devastation in Breathitt County, KY and hundreds of work orders that were still open, Samaritan's Purse had decided to extend their deployment there.  In response, our Calvary Relief Team deployed back Kentucky from September 25th to October 1st, 2022 serving in the name of Jesus and seeing how powerfully God moved in the lives there.

Thank you for your prayers - we really need them each time deployed.  May our Lord bless and guide us as we seek to serve Him and give Him all the praise.

"Also, I heard the voice of the Lord saying: "Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?"

Then I said, "Here am I! Send me."
