Punta Gorda, FL
December 4th - 10th, 2022
Our Calvary Relief team deployed to Punta Gorda, FL Dec. 4th through 10th, 2022. Once again, we saw God move powerfully in so many lives as well as our own. There were 31 first-time decisions to follow Jesus as their Lord and Savior! In the midst of horrible tragedy in their lives, people were able to find hope in the future by trusting Jesus and experiencing His love as we ministered to them.
At this one house, a lady was sitting on her porch, very sick and crying. As four of us took turns praying and sharing with her, she decided to ask Jesus into her life - once she did, her whole demeanor changed! There was clarity and hope in her eyes. She hugged us and thanked us for being her "sisters". Just then, her 11-year-old grandson came to her & said he "believed in Jesus" and had accepted Him into his life.

We worked there several days. Each day, the husband, a hard-core biker, softened, and thanked us - he told us he just couldn't do it anymore and was so thankful we were there. By the last day, he also prayed the prayer of salvation and started trusting Jesus to change him. At first, we had wondered why we were even there - but God knew, and by the end of the week, we knew too that He had a purpose for us being there - to God be the glory!
A big part of this week was also spent ministering to one another. We are all dealing with different things in our lives - we bring those things with us when deployed. God uses us to help and encourage one another. Our faith grows as we see how God is there for us (and others) when we need it most. Thank God for our brothers and sisters in Christ!
It has truly been a blessing being able to serve God in this way by going to those lost and hurting. It also makes us realize that so many times, those closest to us and in our home town are lost and hurting too. May we be more aware of this and allow God to use us no matter where we are.
