Sept. 24th - 30th, 2023
Hurricane Idalia made landfall early Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023 in Florida as a strong Category 3 storm with winds of 125 mph, then crossed into Georgia with Category 1 causing major destruction.
Our CCOB Calvary Relief team was ready to respond with Samaritan's Purse (SP) and the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team on Sept. 24th - 30th helping those affected by Hurricane Idalia. Once again, we saw God move in amazing ways! As the teams worked to clear trees and debris, it showed homeowners the love of God and that they were not forgotten. In doing so, it opened up their hearts to Jesus and our team was able to lead 3 people to the Lord (and a total of 22 salvations during the few weeks SP has been there). God truly uses these devastating times to draw people to Him.

An example of this is the 13-year-old boy who came to know the Lord. As our SP team leader presented the Bible to a bedridden homeowner (his 'grammy'), the young boy stood at the doorway looking very sad. We asked his name and if he had a relationship with Jesus. He responded 'no', so we shared about Jesus, the Bible and how he could accept Jesus, which he decided he wanted to do. We then gave him his very own Bible and encouraged him to read it. The sadness that had been in his eyes was gone and now a smile was on his face and hope in his heart. What a great way to end the week - THANK YOU, JESUS!
