Memphis Ice Storm
March 21st - 26th, 2022
Our Calvary Relief team served in Memphis Tennessee from March 21st - 26th, 2022 where Winter Ice Storm Landon caused widespread damage with downed trees & powerlines leaving 270,000 people without power in Feb. Our group teamed up w/Samaritan's Purse (SP) and Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (RRT) to share the hope and love of Jesus Christ with them. When people are in tears just because we showed up being there for them, we knew God was with us. We explained to them that Jesus brought us (from all over the country) because He loves them, died for them and hears their prayers. We go to serve, but God blesses us, teaches us, and touches our hearts deeply in return.

A powerful week and so thankful we could be there - we cleared broken-down trees, limbs and debris from 18 homes and presented each of the homeowners with the Bible and the gospel. One of the homeowners had been afflicted for 15 years with a debilitating illness & doctors told her there was no more they could do giving no hope for her. She also had no hope in where she would be when she left this earth. We were able to share the hope of Jesus and eternal life and she accepted what Jesus had done for her on the cross, giving her new hope.
Another lady exclaimed "I've seen this type of thing on TV, not thinking it was real - but today, I experienced it. God came and visited me". She and her neighbor and their children were filled with joy as we presented them with the Bible.
While we were there in Memphis, two horrific tornadoes touched down in Round Rock, Texas and St. Bernard's Parish, LA. Samaritan's Purse & the RRT have deployed to help the people there. We would have liked to go too. We know we can't be everywhere, but we do know that where God leads us, He uses us for His glory. Won't you join us on our next trip?
God uses these disasters to draw people to Him. He uses us to be His hands and feet to share His love. And we get to experience the LOVE of God!
