Rebuild Deployment
Buncombe County - Asheville, NC
May 3rd - 8th, 2026

Our CCOB Calvary Relief team of 8 joined with Samaritan's Purse (SP) rebuilding homes that were destroyed during Hurricane Helene.  SP is in the process of building hundreds of new homes, and rebuilding homes that were severely damaged.  We had the opportunity to be part of this effort sharing the love of Christ to those in the community.

Our team worked on a home in which the roof had blown off during the hurricane. The roof had been repaired but the contents of the attic needed to be removed.  New sheetrock was installed, the front porch was rebuilt, and new furniture & appliances were installed.    We joined with others from around the country that came to help.   It was truly a blessing to be there sharing the love of Christ and working with our brothers & sisters in Christ.

One of the best highlights of this trip was meeting this young man at Dunkin' and introducing him to Christ.

He greeted us with a fist pump, asked our names and favorite color and then proceeded to encourage us in what to order. Each day he remembered our name and favorite colors.  On the second day, we gave him the 'Steps to Peace' booklet, asked him to read it that night and tell us what he thought.  The following day he told us he had read it twice and proceeded to tell us what he understood it to mean.  We clarified a few things and shared more about Jesus - he willingly asked Jesus into his life that day.  The next day we presented him with aBible which he was thrilled to receive.

Each of these trips we go not knowing what God has in store for us, and He shows us!  Another huge blessing is getting to know our brothers & sisters in Christ better.  God not only brings us there to minister to those in the community but also to one another.  It's hard to leave at the end of the week because we've developed such strong bonds with those we've worked with.
