Avoyelles Parish, LA
June 29th - July 3rd, 2026
What began as heavy rain from Tropical Storm Arthur turned into a state of emergency across Avoyelles Parish, where floodwaters inundated hundreds of homes and prompted widespread rescue efforts. Lifetime residents say they have never witnessed flooding of this magnitude.

"The Lord is our strength" - He really is! It was so evident as we served in Louisiana this last week. As we mucked out this elderly lady's house in the midst of 90+ degree humid weather, God gave us strength! Not only did He give us strength, He also gave us JOY in doing it and compassion for the lady we were helping. My heart broke as I met her, and when I told her that God was with her, her response was "I know He is". He truly is with us when we go through hardships and He also gives us His strength to help those who are hurting.

Each trip is such a powerful witness - we come away knowing we were there for a reason and filled with a joy & peace that suppases all understanding.

Our Calvary Relief team served in Avoyelles Parish, LA with Samaritan's Purse (SP) and the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team. Several hundred homes were damaged/destroyed when 25 - 30" of rain flooded their homes. When we go on these trips, sometimes we wonder "why are we doing this?" and then God shows us! Sometimes it's just for that one special person, sometimes it's to lead someone to the Lord, and sometimes it's just to show them the love of Christ and that God hears their prayers.
