Asheville Rebuild
Feb. 15th - 20th, 2026
Our Calvary Relief team spent the week helping rebuild homes in Asheville, NC - ones that were lost homes during Hurricane Helene. It was such a blessing to see the hope of Jesus now in their lives. Especially for Sam, the man we had the privilege of serving by finishing up his new home and then dedicating it to him. Once a home is finished, homeowners are presented with a Bible and a sign saying "PAID in FULL", just like Jesus 'paid in full' for our sins.

We are so thankful to have met Sam - God had spared his life when, during the storm inside his home, it started sliding down the mountainside in a mudslide. After being banged up with the house breaking apart all around him, he was left with 18 broken bones and 2 punctured lungs at the bottom of the mountain. He shared with us his extreme pain and how he thought he would be eaten by bears if no one found him. At one point, he saw a young girl and her mom at a house nearby and got up enough energy to raise one arm trying to signal for help. The young girl miraculously saw him! Rescue crews were able to get to him on the other side of a raging river of water, but it still took 30 hours to get him to a hospital. As he shared his experience, he was choked up just thinking about it, but He knew God kept him alive having a special purpose for his life.

Our team also worked on a couple of other homes that week in different stages of construction. We learned a lot, but most importantly, we saw how God brings hope and restoration even in the worst of situations. We are thankful we could be a part of His plan in doing so - being the hands & feet of Jesus and bringing His hope and love to these people who have lost so much.
