Savannah, TN
April 18th - 21st, 2023

Our Calvary Relief team served in Savannah, TN from April 18th through 21st.  The devastation was overwhelming after EF-3 tornadoes touched down demolishing people's homes and leaving them in shambles.  In spite of all the destruction, people's lives were spared, and they shared with us how a couple of children actually saw Jesus and the hand of God protecting them.  We served with Samaritan's Purse and the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains who served 20 homeowners during the week, sharing God's hope and saw 4 people turn over their lives to Jesus.  Praise God!

It was an amazing week with lots of twists & turns and unexpected events, us not knowing from day to day what was to happen next.  But through all these events, God was totally in control and we saw how powerfully He worked everything out. So many special 'God-moments' - hearing of how God was with them through the storm, people being saved, heart-felt moments shared with one another, and seeing how God turned things around for His good.

Just as we finished up in TN and Samaritan's Purse trucks and teams were about to head back to NC, they were deployed to Shawnee, OK where at least 8 tornadoes touched down 2 days before. By Fri. night, they were all set up and ready to help people the next day. It's amazing how God orchestrates things like this and in our lives to redirect us at times.

Proverbs 16:9 says "A man's heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps".  It was so evident on this trip that God directs our path when we're just willing to step out in faith to serve Him.
